The York Supplies Community Society share offer is now closed, and no more investments may be accepted.

Thank you so much to everyone who has invested, donated, volunteered and supported the project. Together we have raised the funds not only to buy York Supplies for the community, but also to start the York Supplies Community Co-op without debt. Together, you have saved this wonderful business for another generation.

If you wanted to invest but have not been able to, please don’t despair! The priority of YSCSL is having as many members as wish to join, so that York Supplies really is grounded in the community. Accordingly, there will be a further window in late November/early December when you will be able to become a Member of the Society for a fixed investment of £100 (no more and no less).

We will keep you updated about this through our email lists and on social media.

Thank you again for your support!

Why are we doing this?

Kings Heath residents love York Supplies, but it’s finally happened: Jon is retiring!

We are York Supplies customers who want to maintain the business as a traditional hardware and garden supplies store, as a source of invaluable advice, and as a community resource.

We have established a Community Benefit Society to raise money for a community buyout, and we hope you will want to help.

Some of the Action Group have lived in the area for decades, others are newer arrivals. We work in the trades or professions, or own community businesses, or are students or retirees. We have young families, empty nests, or beloved pets. We include people of all ages, backgrounds and identities. We are all delighted to have York Supplies on our doorstep, and we want to ensure it stays there.
